Description
The School House is a former shop and dwelling, now part of a school, dating from the 18th century. It is constructed of brick, with some gault brick and flint, and features pantiled roofs. The building has two storeys with an attic and seven bays of sash windows that include glazing bars. The ground floor windows are beneath gault brick skewback arches, while the first floor has renewed red brick skewback arches. Two ground floor windows on the north side have been recently replaced to substitute a former shop front. The building showcases rusticated quoins made of flint pebbles, creating a vermiculated effect. The front door, which is raised and fielded panelled, is located off-centre in the second bay from the south and is framed by a door case with engaged Corinthian columns that support a pediment adorned with modillions. There is an off-centre axial stack and a gable-end stack. The south gable end is constructed of galletted flint with brick tumbling-in.
