Description

Breckland House is a house that was originally two separate homes, dating from the late 15th century and later. It features a timber frame with rendered and colourwashed wattle and daub infill and has plain tiled roofs. The building is two storeys tall with an attic, set on a brick plinth, and is designed in an L shape.

The north wing has a central fielded and panelled door in a fluted case, which is sheltered by a flat hood. There are late 20th century casement windows on both floors to the left and right. The roof is gabled, and there are internal quadruple stacks on a square plinth at the west gable, decorated with spiral and diaper cut brickwork, along with a secondary central ridge stack.

The gabled cross wing projects to the left and has three late 20th century casements. The east wall of the cross wing features various late 20th century casements and fielded plaster panels to the north. At the rear, there is a two-storey gabled stair turret, which now includes two late 20th century casements. A single-storey late 20th century conservatory obscures part of the main range's elevation, and there is a black glazed pantiled outshut to the east range.

Inside, the dining room showcases cruciform bridging beams that are multiply roll moulded, along with rod chamfered joists. The close studded timber frame is intact.
