Description
West View Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in the first half of the 18th century. It features colourwashed brick with black glazed pantiles on the front and a mix of pantiles and plain tiles on the rear. The building has a lobby entrance plan and a symmetrical facade that is two storeys tall with an attic, arranged in five bays. The central door is flanked by mid-19th century sash windows that were originally under segmental skewback arches but have since been altered to flat. There is a dentilled brick string course, four 18th century cross casements, and one 20th century casement on the first floor. The farmhouse has a timber eaves cornice and a hipped roof with two gabled dormers that contain casements. A rectangular ridge stack with a moulded plinth is present, and a rear cross wing was added in the late 18th century. To the north of the facade, there is a swept garden wall. Inside, there is a winder staircase by the stack that extends through the full height of the building, and the roof is supported by collars and staggered butt purlins.
