Description

Sunnyside Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates from the late 15th century and was rebuilt in the late 16th century. The structure is partly brick and otherwise timber framed, featuring rendered wattle and daub infill and pantiled roofs. It has cross wings to the east and west and is two storeys high.

The south front includes a two-storey gabled porch with a five-light cross casement timber window above the door. To the right of the porch is a renewed 18th-century three-light timber cross casement window below a four-light mullioned window, both with leaded lights. The gabled roof has a ridge stack with four octagonal flues on bell-moulded bases and an external stack on the east gable.

The left cross wing displays exposed timbering across two floors and features a jettied attic, which has a roll-moulded bressummer with remnants of cable interlace. The upper floors have mullioned and cross casement windows, and a greenhouse is attached to the ground floor. This cross wing has a gabled roof. The east cross wing is a late 18th-century clay lump addition on a brick plinth, featuring casements on the ground floor and round-headed windows on the first floor.

The north front of the west cross wing has a jettied attic storey and a three-light 18th-century cross casement window. The main range is similar, but the east first-floor window is mullioned. Inside, the timber framing is mostly intact, with a wave-moulded brick fireplace in the west room and a chamfered fireplace in the east room.
