Description
The Pleasance is a house dating from around 1600, featuring a timber frame with wattle and daub infill and a mid-19th century brick facing. The building has two storeys and includes two doors, one of which is blocked, situated under rendered skewback arches. It is adorned with corner and central flat pilasters and has three windows on each floor, which are a mix of 19th and 20th century casements and sashes. The roof has a bell-based gable and a brick saw-toothed eaves cornice, with a ridge stack positioned to the left of center.
Inside, the structure has close studding on a brick plinth with a middle rail, and the staircase is located by the stack. The beams are tongue stopped, and the upstairs north room features tension and arch-braced corner posts, which were originally open to the roof. The roof structure has mostly been reconstructed and includes square section queen posts, collars, and clasped and butt purlins arranged in two tiers.
