Description

St Mary’s is a house, now used as an old people’s home, dating from the later 18th century. It was built around an earlier timber-framed structure. The house is constructed of brick with a slate roof, and it stands two and a half storeys high across seven bays. A late 19th-century porch, featuring four modified Ionic pilasters in a Jacobean style, is centrally positioned. A round arched opening is located to the left of the main elevation, and a blocked rebated arch is present to the right of the porch. Contemporary sash windows are found on the ground floor to the right of the porch; otherwise, 18th-century sash windows with glazing bars are set beneath gauged skewback arches. A timber eaves cornice runs along the roofline, which is gabled.
