Description
Portwood Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 17th century, with a 19th-century cross wing. The building is timber framed with wattle and daub infill set on a brick plinth, while the cross wing is constructed of brick. It features pantiled gabled roofs and has two storeys, including a privy tower. There are three casement windows on each floor, and the roof has a bell-based gable. A central ridge stack is present. Inside, the sitting room displays wall posts and a chamfered beam with diamond stud and elongated tongue stops. There is a blocked winder staircase located by the stack, and the upper corridor and bedrooms still show the original framing.
