Description

Gooderstone war memorial is situated in the churchyard wall of the Church of St George, which is listed as Grade I. The memorial features a tall, tapering Latin cross, which is octagonal in shape and made of Portland stone. It rises from a pier that is integrated into the churchyard wall. The pier has moulded upper corners and a deep chamfered foot. Inscriptions are located on the south side of the pier, facing The Street, while the cross above is oriented to face east. The incised inscription reads: "IN MEMORY OF THE GOODERSTONE MEN FALLEN IN THE GREAT WAR 1914 - 1918 (19 NAMES) 1939 - 1945 (3 NAMES)."
