Description
The Grange is a former farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with an early 19th-century facade. It is constructed of brick featuring a diaper pattern on the gable ends, and has slate and pantile roofs. The building is two storeys high with attics and has a long lower double pile extension at the rear of the entrance block.
The front features three bays of tripartite sash windows with glazing bars, set beneath skewback arches with raised keystones. There is a panelled front door topped by a semicircular traceried fanlight, framed by a simple doorcase with pilasters and a flat hood. The facade has a parapet, while the gable ends from the 17th century have been rebuilt but still show some early tumbling-in.
At the rear of the main block, there are two stacks, one of which is original. Additionally, there is a lower double pile service extension from the late 18th century, which has a dentil cornice and two-light casement windows with glazing bars on the north side. The shorter southern pile features five sash windows with glazing bars beneath skewback arches.
