Description
Hyde Hall is a mid-18th century farmhouse constructed of tuck-pointed brick and topped with a slate roof. The building features a single pile design with a later continuous outshut beneath a catslide roof. It stands three storeys high and has five bays of sash windows with glazing bars, all set beneath skewback arches that have raised stucco keystones. The top storey is slightly shorter than the others.
The centre bay is slightly advanced and includes an unusual porch that is mainly from the 19th and early 20th centuries, yet it retains a pair of fluted Ionic columns with parts of the original capitals, which were likely freestanding at one time. These columns support a curved gable with a swept corrugated iron roof. The entrance features a 20th-century glazed porch and a pair of 19th-century lateral sash windows with semicircular heads. The front doorway is arched and has a semicircular fanlight with tracery.
Inside, there is a very fine well stair with turned balusters, carved tread-ends, and a large plaster Rococo ceiling rose above the well. The hall is adorned with a plaster modillion cornice. The main roof is hipped and there are two stacks on the rear wall.
