Description
Holmwood House, formerly known as Ey House, is a house built in 1846. It is constructed of yellow brick and features a slate roof. The building is two storeys high and has a rectangular shape with three by four bays. The corners are defined by paired pilaster strips, and the windows are recessed. The central bay of the west return also has paired pilaster strips and a pediment. The entrance features a rusticated brick doorcase beneath an entablature. The windows are fitted with 6/6 unhorned sashes, which have stuccoed aprons and gauged skewback arches. The roof is hipped and has three square stacks.
Inside, the staircase hall includes an open screen on the landing and a curved open-well staircase with stick balusters and a mahogany handrail. There is a contemporary marble fireplace, along with two late 18th-century coloured marble fireplaces that have been reused. The interior also contains contemporary doors and door surrounds.
