Description

Burgh Farmhouse is an early 17th-century timber-framed farmhouse with rendered lath and plaster infill, situated in Attleborough. The roof is covered in pantiles. The house follows a lobby entrance plan and is arranged in two ranges, with two storeys each. A gabled 20th-century porch is centrally positioned, masking the front door and flanked by casement windows on either side. Two sash windows with glazing bars are visible on the first floor. A west range steps down. The interior retains its timber frame. There are beams with chamfers terminating in roll and tongue stops. The remains of a four-light diamond mullion window are visible in the east wall of the lower east room, and a similar window, although redundant, is in an upstairs room. One bedroom contains wall plaster inscribed ‘T 11 1603 1’. The tie beam roof is boarded over at collar level, and two brick fireplaces have been restored.
