Description
The Market Stores is a shop and house dating from the early 18th century. It is constructed of brick, partly timber framed with wattle and daub infill, and some clay lump. The roof is pantiled, with the front section glazed in black. The building has two storeys and a dormer attic. There are two doors that are asymmetrically placed, each located under flat hoods supported by iron scrolled brackets. To the right, there are 20th-century plate glass windows for the shop. Between the doors, there are three and two-light casements. A 20th-century plain tiled bow window is located to the left. Under the eaves, there are three groups of early 18th-century casements with 3, 4, and 3 lights. The rear of the building is obscured by outshuts and extensions that feature catslide roofs, with various dates ranging from the 18th to the 20th century.
