Description

A pair of houses dated 1838, located on Old Bury Road in Thetford. The houses are constructed of flint with gault brick dressings, and have a gault brick facade, all topped by a slate roof. Each house has two storeys and three bays, arranged symmetrically. Each features a central doorway with a doorcase comprised of reeded and fluted engaged columns supporting block entablatures and open pediments. Number 3 has an original six-panelled door beneath a six-vaned fanlight, while Number 5 has a 20th-century half-glazed door. All windows are sash windows with 6/6 glazing bars, each set within a gauged skewback arch. The roof is gabled, with an internal gable-end stack to the south and a ridge stack marking the division between the properties. A datestone is set into the apex of the south gable head. The interior of the houses has not been inspected.
