Description
Losinga is a house located on Bridge Street in Thetford, dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of flint with brick dressings, and a red brick facade was added in the mid-19th century. The house was extended by one bay to the southwest in the later 19th century. It has two storeys and originally featured three bays, but now includes three bays plus the additional bay.
The central entrance consists of a six-panelled door beneath a plain fanlight, which is set within a plain doorcase. This doorcase is supported by block entablatures that hold up an open pediment, with the soffits of the pediment decorated with a Greek key design. There are sash windows with 2/2 glazing bars on either side of the door, each topped with gauged skewback arches. The first floor has three similar sash windows. The added southern bay features a six-panelled door with an overlight and a gauged skewback arch, with another 2/2 sash window above it. The house has a modillion eaves cornice and a hipped roof, with a stack located on the northeast slope and on the rear wing.
Inside, there is a stick baluster staircase with a ramped and wreathed handrail.
