Description
Nos 29 to 31 on Market Place are 17th century buildings with later alterations. The left portion, comprising Nos 29 and 30, is made of red brick and features two storeys and an attic. It has flat arches over the sash windows on the first floor, which now only have central glazing bars. There is a wooden eaves cornice and the roof is covered with pantiles. Three dormer casements with pediments are visible. The ground floor has modern shop fronts. The right portion, No 31, also has two storeys and an attic, constructed of red brick. It features gauged flat arches over three sash windows with glazing bars on the first floor and a segmental headed dormer window. The roof is covered with machine-made pantiles. There is an arch with a display window on the left and an arched passage leading to Barwill Court on the right. The shop front slightly projects with a central entrance, and it also has a wooden eaves cornice. Nos 29 to 31 are part of a group that includes the Dereham Labour Party HQ, The Eagle Inn, Cosy Corner Cafe, and several other buildings on Market Place.
