Description

No. 1 Chapel Street is a 16th-century house located in New Buckenham. It features a timber frame with roughcast wattle and daub infill, along with some brick repairs. The roof is made of corrugated iron. The house has a medieval town house plan and is set transverse to the road, presenting a single bay facade. It stands two storeys high, with the upper floor jettied. There is one 18th-century sash window on each floor, both with glazing bars. The south flanking wall has two 19th-century rendered brick extensions. The gabled roof includes a central stack. Although the interior has been much altered, the bridging beam and joists of the first floor remain.
