Description

The unknown grave cover, located in the churchyard immediately to the east of the chancel of the Church of St Swithin, is believed to belong to Richard de Langbrigg, a parish priest who died in 1270. This grave cover dates from the late 13th century or 14th century and is made of carved limestone. It has a tapered shape with a raised quatrefoil cross head and shaft. It was formerly situated inside the chancel.
