Description

Twyford Hall is a stately farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with an important side addition from the late 18th century. The building is constructed of brick and features black pantile and slate roofs. It has a double pile plan with irregular service extensions to the east and a late 18th-century addition to the west, which has been recently shortened due to fire damage. The farmhouse stands two storeys high with an attic.

The facade showcases 17th-century brickwork in English bond, which has been heightened with later brickwork. A central 17th-century two-storey porch features a semi-circular headed entrance. There is a later stucco platband, pediment, and cornice. The upper floor includes a late 18th-century mullion and transom window with leaded glazing and metal casements. The 17th-century door frame is adorned with double ovolo mouldings and wide ogee stops.

On the ground floor, there are two late 18th-century two-light mullion and transom windows, one later three-light mullion and transom window, and one modern two-light casement. The upper floor features sash windows with glazing bars. A plain dentil cornice and three flat-roofed dormers with two-light casements are also present. The late 18th-century extension has large sash windows with glazing bars set beneath skewback arches, along with a moulded cornice, parapet, and plain giant pilaster at the division. The building has one massive off-centre axial stack and additional stacks at the rear. The eastern additions are not of special interest.
