Description
The Church of St. Nicholas is a parish church that dates back to medieval times and has undergone later modifications. It is constructed of flint, with the south and east sides rendered, and features ashlar and ferruginous conglomerate dressings. The building includes a brick tower-porch and has a pantile roof. The church has an aisleless nave that merges with an undifferentiated chancel and a tower-porch located on the south side. The tower-porch, dated 1732, has diagonal buttresses, an entrance with a segmental arch, three honeycomb vents in the upper stage, a crenellated parapet, and a wooden bell cupola covered in lead.
The south doorway, dating from the 14th century, is moulded and features a hood-mould decorated with fleuron and carved label stops. The north doorway is blocked. The south wall of the nave and chancel contains two double lancets, one two-light flat-headed Perpendicular window, and one modern two-light cusped I-tracery window. The east window is a three-light Y-traceried design. On the north wall, there is one two-light flat-headed Perpendicular window, one modern double lancet, one modern single lancet with cusping, and one three-light panel-traceried Perpendicular window. Additionally, fragments of medieval glass can be found in the northwest window.
