Description
The White Lion Inn is a public house located on Station Street in Swaffham. Originally built in the late 17th century, it was refronted and altered around 1860 before being converted into a public house in the late 20th century. The building is constructed of flint and brick, featuring a red brick facade and a roof made of black-glazed pantiles.
The exterior consists of two storeys and a dormer attic, with a three-window range and an additional lower window bay to the left. The central entrance is a six-panelled door, with the upper two panels being glazed, framed by a simple timber doorcase. To the left of the entrance is a shop display window with central double-leaf doors and a hood supported by consoles. There is one boarded window to the right. Above, each floor has three 2/2 horned sash windows, with the upper ones located within through-eaves dormers. The roof is gabled, and there are internal gable-end stacks. The left-hand bay features one 2/2 horned sash window on each floor and has a bell-cast gabled roof. The north return shows remnants of a lower roof line and includes a relocated datestone dated 1682. The interior has not been inspected.
