Description

Two 18th-century walled gardens are located on the southeastern side of Potterells. They are constructed of red brick and stand approximately 3 to 4 metres in height. The southern rectangular garden has a wrought iron gate centrally positioned in its south wall, featuring delicate scrolled asymmetrical detailing and the initials β€œRA” in the overthrow. The opposing wall has a taller gate with similar ironwork, incorporating foliage motifs. To the north of the northern garden is a former stable block, now converted into a house. While the house is of modern brick and tile construction, it retains a roof with a prominent clock and bell tower dated 1767. The tower features weatherboarded detailing, fluted angle pilasters, an octagonal open turret topped with a copper dome and a wrought iron weathervane. A clock is positioned on the north face of the tower.
