Description
The former laundry block and pumphouse, located about 200 metres west of Brocket Hall, dates from the mid to late 18th century and is likely attributed to the architect James Paine. The building is constructed of red brick and has a square plan with a slate pyramid roof. It stands two storeys tall, with the upper storey being taller and separated from the lower storey by a floor band. The eaves feature brick dentils, and there are three segmental-headed casement windows on each side. Attached to the northwest angle is a single-storey pumphouse, which has canted sides, plain doors, and ventilators, also topped with a slate roof. It is noted that the pumphouse was said to have been powered by a donkey.
