Description

The bridge over the lake at Brocket Hall was built between 1772 and 1774 by James Paine in grounds landscaped by Mr. Wood of Essex. It is constructed from Portland stone and features three segmental arches, with the central arch being wider to span a weir. The cutwaters have chamfered ashlar bases and niches above them. The ribbed arch soffits add to its architectural detail. A modillioned cornice runs below the parapet, which is adorned with symmetrical balusters.
