Description

The War Memorial, located about 40 meters east-north-east of the Church of St. Lawrence in Abbots Langley, was built around 1920. It features a design by Sir R. Blomfield for the Imperial War Graves Commission. The memorial is made of ashlar and has a stepped octagonal base. Atop the base is an octagonal cross with a moulded base, arms, and head that taper towards the top. A bronze sword is fastened to the front, and the names of those who died in the war are inscribed on it.
