Description
The London Coal Duty Marker, located about 150 metres southeast of Woodcock Hill Farm House, is a cast-iron square pier that stands one and a half metres high. It was cast in 1861 by H. Grissell at the Regents Canal Ironworks. The marker features chamfered corners and a pyramid top, and it is painted white. The necking of the pier displays the City of London crest, while the front face of the shaft has raised lettering that reads '24 and 25 Vic/Cap 42'. This marker indicates the extent of coal duty to the boundaries of the Metropolitan Police District.
