Description

Solesbridge House is a house dating from the early to mid 17th century, with alterations and extensions made in the 19th and early 20th centuries. It has a timber frame core that is cased and extended in brick, all of which is colourwashed and rendered, featuring some sham timber framing. The house has tiled roofs and was originally built with two bays. It is one storey high with an attic. The ground floor has three and four light timber glazing bar casements, while the first floor features gabled half dormers. There is an external 17th-century stack with offsets and a small side light at the right end, and an additional external stack was added at the left end. At the rear of the original block, there is a taller early 20th-century wing with casement windows. Set back to the left is a low gable fronted entrance bay that may reflect an earlier structure. Further left, there is a 19th-century bay with a four light casement on the ground floor and a three light half dormer above, also in sham timber framing, along with a right end stack. The taller early 20th-century wing is added to the rear of this range and features sham timber framing. Inside, there is a stop-chamfered ground floor binding beam, a stop-chamfered timber lintel over the fireplace, braces to cambered tie beams, and queen struts to collars clasping purlins.
