Description
Plough Cottage is a house dating from the mid to late 17th century, with extensions from the 19th century and alterations in the 20th century. It features a timber frame with whitewashed brick nogging and some areas of rebuilding. The roof is tiled and the building consists of two bays and two storeys.
The central entrance is sheltered by a later hipped timber porch. On the ground floor to the left, there is a three-light timber casement window, while to the right, there is a two-light window with a cambered head. The first floor has two-light casements, with some exposed framing visible on the left, including jowled posts, studs, and a mid rail.
The left gable end has a large external stack with offsets, and there is a lean-to attached towards the rear. Inside the gable, exposed braces and queen struts support the collar clasping the purlins. The right gable end features three-light casements, and there is a catslide roof over a lean-to outshut at the rear right. To the rear left, there is a 19th-century addition built of flint and brick, which includes casement windows and an entrance. The interior has not been inspected.
