Description

Solesbridge Mill House is a house dating from the late 17th century, with extensions made in the late 18th century and early 19th century. It is constructed of red brick and features tiled roofs. The original structure consists of two bays with a broad, steeply pitched gable end roof. To the left, there is a block from the 18th century with a pyramidally roofed design, and an early 19th-century rear wing. The house is two storeys high.

The entrance is located to the left of the early block and features a panelled door with a moulded frame and a deep reveal. On the ground floor, there are two timber two-light casements with leaded glass, and all openings have segmental gauged brick heads. The first floor has two iron frame two-light casements. The eaves are dentilled brick. The 18th-century block has a bow front and includes two 19th-century sash windows with stone sills; the ground floor windows have segmental heads and reveals, while the first floor windows have flat heads and flush frames.

There are insurance markers for Sun Fire and Phoenix on the building. A small stack is located to the left of the early block, and the right gable is weatherboarded. The early 19th-century wing at the rear has a hipped roof and a ridge stack, with horizontal sliding sashes on the left return. There is also a stack at the rear of the 18th-century block and a lean-to addition at the back. The interior has not been inspected. Historically, Solesbridge Mill produced paper from 1746, when it was owned by G. Andrews, a pioneer in paper production, until 1902.
