Description

The Henderson Memorial is a chest-tomb located about 10 meters northwest of the Church of St. Lawrence in Abbots Langley. It commemorates Mrs. Elvira Henderson, who died in 1901. The tomb is made of ashlar and features ornamental copper. It has a long, low rectangular shape designed in an Art Nouveau style. The base is moulded in copper, adorned with stylized trees that rise at angles along the longer sides, leading up to a projecting capping that displays bold raised lettering. The upper stone cap is decorated with foliate ornamentation.
