Description
26, 26A, and 26B George Street is a former building known as "The George." It dates back to the 15th century and has two storeys, featuring a 6-window front from the 18th century that has been added on. The building is constructed of red brick with a cemented blocking course that partially covers a high-pitched, undulating tiled roof. The sash windows on the first floor have gauged, flat brick arches and glazing bars set in near-flush, box frames. One window from the left is blocked, and the two right-hand windows have modern glazing. There is a central carriageway on the ground floor, with early 20th-century shop windows on either side. The buildings numbered 18 to 28 on George Street form a group with this property.
