Description

Number 1 George Street is a 17th-century house that was re-fronted and re-roofed in the early 19th century. It has three storeys and features two windows. The building is constructed of red brick and has a very low pitched, hipped slate roof. The sash windows, which have glazing bars, are set within stucco lined reveals and are topped with gauged, shallow segmental brick arches. The ground floor has a mid-19th century shop front that includes slender wood pilaster mullions, a panelled soffit, and a trellised frieze. This property is part of a group that includes numbers 1 to 77 on George Street.
