Description

This is a 17th-century timber-framed house of two storeys and an attic, featuring a single window. It has a steeply pitched, swept roof covered in machine tiles, with an eaves soffit. The timber framing exhibits close-set, thin studs and large tension braces, supporting an overhanging first floor. The first floor has a small, multi-paned sash window set within a flush frame. The ground floor has been renewed with small-paned shop windows set on bracketed cills, and panelled stall-risers positioned below. Nos. 1 to 7 George Street form a group.
