Description
The Church of St Mary, designed by architect Sir George Gilbert Scott, was built in 1867. It is constructed of red brick with minimal stone dressings and features a plain tile roof. The church has a single aisle, and the chancel arch is highlighted by a shingled bellcote with a slender spike. The nave includes three 3-light leaded casements set beneath segmental relieving arches, while the chancel has two lancet windows. The eastern end of the church features a window with plate tracery and partly timbered gables. There is a south porch with a timbered arch and trefoiled lancets. Attached to the rear of the church is a small school hall, connected by a narrow corridor. The hall has segmental-headed casements that match those of the church and similar timbered gables.
