Description
This statue, located in the north garden 25 metres northwest of Rothamsted Manor House, was created in 1878 by C.B. Lawes, who later became known as Lawes-Wittewronge. It features a white marble figure of a semi-reclining nude seated on a drapery-covered rock, resting on an oval base. The grey marble pedestal resembles a table, with a rock-faced plinth and a concave-sided support, topped with a shallow rectangular surface. This statue is a notable example of late 19th century classical sculpture.
