Description
Wood End Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 16th or 17th century, constructed with a timber frame and later cased and extended in red brick during the late 18th century. It features a plain tile roof and consists of two blocks, with the western block being larger. The western block is two storeys high with attics and has dentilled brick eaves. Its facade is divided into two parts; the left side is made of chequered brick and includes one sash window with a gauged brick lintel on both the ground and first floors, along with a 20th-century door. The right side is plain brick and projects slightly, featuring a 20th-century window and one box dormer. This section is said to have been used as a Quaker meeting hall. The eastern block is also two storeys and retains its chequered brick casing over the timber frame. It has a broad red brick chimney stack from the 16th or 17th century at the far gable end and two first-floor casements. The rear elevation of the farmhouse includes a central lateral chimney stack from the 17th century, topped with a tall cruciform stack.
