Description

This chest tomb is located in St Helen's churchyard, 30 metres west of the west end, and commemorates Reverend Pretyman, who died in 1859. It is constructed from Purbeck marble, limestone, and sandstone, showcasing a good example of the Decorated style. The sides feature Purbeck shafts that separate the inscription panels, and there is a ballflower decoration surrounding them. A quatrefoil frieze runs along the plinth, and a foliate cross is depicted on the cambered top panel.
