Description

St. George's is a house that was once three separate dwellings. It has origins dating back to the 17th century but was largely rebuilt and refronted in the late 18th century, with extensions added in the 19th century. The structure features a timber frame that is rendered, with a red brick front and a tiled roof, while the rear additions have a slate roof. The house is broad with three main cells and likely originally had a through passage plan. The entrance is located between windows on the center and right, with a stack to the left of center and a window at the far left.

The building has two storeys, with a step up to a recessed six-panelled door that has four fielded panels. The doorcase is adorned with reeded pilasters and shaped brackets supporting the hood. There is a plinth at the base. The ground floor features 16-pane sash windows, while the first floor has three-light small-pane casements, all of which are recessed with timber sills and slightly cambered heads. A cross axial ridge stack is present.

The left gable end has cement render over the ground floor brick, while the right gable end is rendered and includes a ground floor lean-to outshut that has a large sash window at the front and a weatherboarded return with an entrance. At the rear, there is a 19th-century continuous lean-to outshut and a two-storey wing to the rear left, which has a ground floor made of brick and flint and first-floor weatherboarding, along with a ridge stack. Inside, there are reset stop-chamfered bearers.
