Description

No. 43 High Street is a house dating from the mid-19th century, with a bay at the rear that is from the 17th century or earlier. The building features white brick that is cement rendered in panels, and it has a slate roof. The rear is timber-framed and has a machine-tiled roof. The front of the house has two bays and three storeys.

On the ground floor, there are steps leading up to the entrance on the left, which has a six-panelled door set in a pentice porch. To the right, there is a tripartite sash window and a secondary entrance at the far right. The first floor has 16-pane sash windows, while the second floor has three 6-pane sashes, all of which are flush framed. The eaves are boxed, and there is a stack on the right side of the front slope. A large stack at the rear has an early red brick base and a later white brick cap.

Behind the main structure, there is a one-storey and attic early bay that features an attic casement window and exposed plates in the rear gable end, along with a lean-to outshut. The interior has not been inspected. The building is included for its group value.
