Description
No 1 St Albans Road is a house pair and shop that likely has a core dating from the 17th century. The front is made of mid-18th century chequered red brick and features a steeply pitched plain tile roof. There is a ridge chimney stack located on the left center with rebuilt square shafts. The building has a floor band and stands two storeys tall, with four windows; the ground floor windows have segmental heads. The right side of the building has glazing-bar casements, while the left side features sash windows. The return front facing High Street, which houses the C J Robart & Son shop, is roughcast and has two recessed sash windows. The ground floor includes three early to mid-19th century shallow bow windows with a cornice fascia, and the glazing has been updated in the 20th century.
