Description
This building, located at 2-6 West Lane in Great Offley, is a house dating from the 17th century or earlier. It was altered into three estate cottages in the 19th century and underwent renovation in the 1980s. The structure features a timber frame on a brick sill, with the timber frame exposed only inside and covered externally with white weatherboarding. The steeply pitched roof, which was originally thatched, is now covered with red tiles. The building is one and a half storeys tall and faces north, with a continuous rear outshut that faces the lane. It has two large internal chimneys, which were rebuilt in the 1980s and feature two diagonal square shafts. The central front projection is gabled and includes glazed double doors. The windows are small-pane casement windows with two lights, which have been renewed. Inside, the stout timber frame is exposed along the line of the old rear wall.
