Description

The walls and gate of the walled garden at The Lawns date from the 18th century and are associated with Offley Place. The walls are constructed of red brick in Flemish bond and feature moulded brick coping. The wrought iron gate has slender members and includes a lozenge-shaped bronze plaque. The large rectangular walled garden is located to the west of the house, with walls that reach 4 meters high along West Lane and 3 meters high in other areas. The eastern side is partly open. There is an iron decorative single gate set under a segmental arch on the south side. The gate also has a cast bronze armorial plaque inscribed with 'SS 1778', which commemorates Sarah Salusbury of Offley Place.
