Description
The Pond House and The Pond Cottage are two houses that originated from a single building, dating back to the 17th century, with a brick front added in the early 18th century and a south extension from the early 19th century. The structure features exposed timber framing at the rear, with a dark red brick facade that includes black headers and lighter red dressings. The front has segmental arches made with alternating blue and red bricks, and the steeply pitched roofs are now covered with slate.
The eaves cornice is adorned with wood modillions and moulded brick corbels at the corners. The main front elevation, facing east, is two storeys high and three windows wide, with a 1.5-storey rear wing that has one window, and a two-storey south extension that is slightly set back. The east front features a plat band, three two-light casement windows on the first floor, and an entrance located slightly to the left of the middle window. On the ground floor, the northern window is blocked, while the southern window has been replaced with a flat arch and a garage door. An internal chimney is located a third of the way from the northern end. The south extension has two-light windows on the first floor, and a recessed sash window with 8/8 panes and a flat gauged arch to the left of the door. The main entrance door is a six-panel design with fielded panels and a moulded flat hood, while the other door is a four-panel flush bead door.
