Description
Bridle Ways and the wall extending to the east is a generator house that has been converted into a residence, along with an adjoining wall. It was built around 1911 by architect Edwin Lutyens for Mrs. Fenwick as part of a development at Hill End, which is now known as Langley End. The building was converted into a house in the 1970s and 1980s. It features dark red brick in English bond with light red dressings and has a steeply pitched half-hipped handmade tile roof. The structure is 1½ stories tall and is situated in a dip across the lane from the former service wing of what was Hill End, now Langley End House. The building faces west. A high brick wall with a narrow tiled roof connects the southeast corner of the building to a barn to the east. This wall includes a heavy panelled door set within a recessed round-arched gateway that has splayed reveals, a segmental outer arch, and tiled spandrels. The building also has added dormers and a polygonal south bay. It is included for its group value.
