Description
The barn at Hill End Farm was built around 1911 by E.L. Lutyens. It is constructed of dark red brick in English bond, with lighter red dressings. The barn features a steep old red tile roof that extends down at the rear over an open-fronted cartshed. This long building has one and a half stories and faces north. The eastern end has doors at two levels, with the upper door leading to a loft. The front is symmetrical with nine bays, flanked by pilasters at each end, and originally had three open bays on each side of the center. The current openings have bull-nosed piers and are now infilled. The structure includes tile lintels and tile keelers supported by a continuous tile corbel below the eaves.
