Description
Langley End Cottage is a house dating to around 1911, designed by E.L. Lutyens for Mrs. Fenwick as part of a larger development at Hill End, now known as Langley End. The house is constructed of dark red brick in a stretcher bond, with dressings of lighter red brick. It features steep handmade tile roofs with bellcast eaves and continuous tile corbels beneath the eaves. Some windows have tile lintels and drips.
The house is a small, asymmetrical T-plan building, comprising a short, 1½-storey south wing and a longer, single-storey north range. The entrance is located on the south side of the north range, to the east of the south wing. Windows are flush, white-painted casements with small panes and heavy glazing bars. The east gable features a four-light window, while the south gable has a two-light window above a three-light window. Swept tiled valleys are present in the roof. Large, internal square chimneys are positioned at the north end of the south wing and along the ridge in the east part of the north range; each features clasping corner pilasters and a waisted top.
