Description

The South and East Ranges of farm buildings at Home Farm date from the early 19th century. They are constructed of red brick with hipped slate roofs. The barn situated within the East Range incorporates the wall frame of a former timber-framed barn, which is now white weatherboarded. The farm buildings were designed with a regular layout, with a deliberate emphasis on views of the South Range, which features round-headed openings in two orders, with gauged arches. Taller hipped pavilions flank the South Range at each end. The functions within the South Range include an Estate Office on the right, a granary on the left, and pigsties in between, with openings to the yard at the rear that are partially closed by slate slabs. The East Range contains stables, which open to the yard to the north and south of a barn. The barn has a 19th-century roof truss and jowled wallposts.
