Description
This is a farmhouse and dairy, now divided into four houses, with associated outbuildings to the north. The core of the farmhouse dates back to the 17th century, although the building was largely rebuilt in the early 19th century. The outbuildings are of red brick, while the farmhouse and dairy are stuccoed. The roofs are steeply pitched and covered in slate.
The main farmhouse and dairy form an L-shaped two-storey building with a cellar and attic, facing south. A rear wing extends to the northwest, connecting to a single-storey octagonal former dairy, featuring a high octagonal roof topped with a pinnacle. A long, single-storey outhouse range runs north, with decorative details on the west side and an entrance from the yard on the east. The south front of the farmhouse features two gabled projections, each with a door. A gabled porch is situated to the left of the main entrance door (to No. 2). A large chimney is positioned a third of the way from the east end, with a smaller internal chimney in the west part of the building. Decorative bargeboards adorn all gables. The building has mullioned and transomed wooden windows, each with stucco drips above square heads. The appearance of the building closely matches a drawing from 1860 held at Putteridge Bury library.
