Description
Mount House is a house dating from the mid-18th century, with possibly earlier origins, and has been extended and altered in the early 19th century. It is constructed of red brick, featuring some timber framing, with parts that are colourwashed and others that are weatherboarded. The house has a steeply pitched half hipped slate roof.
The building has a symmetrical two-cell lobby entry, with an additional bay added to the right. It stands two storeys high and has a plinth. The central entrance features a four fielded panelled door. On the ground floor, there are three light small pane casements with wooden sills, all recessed and having cambered heads. The later bay to the right is set back slightly and includes a 16-pane sash window on the first floor.
There is a cross axial ridge stack located behind the entrance and a later external stack on the left end. The right end of the house is weatherboarded on the ground floor, while the area above a lean-to addition at the rear left is rendered. To the rear right, there is a short 19th-century wing that extends with an oversailing first floor and a half hip. The interior has not been inspected.
