Description
Sycamore Cottage and The Cottage is a house, now divided into two homes, dating from around 1730, with a rear extension added in the 19th century. The building features red brick with blue headers in a chequered pattern, a red brick rear extension, and a steeply pitched roof that is now covered with slate. It is two stories high and three windows wide, facing south and set back from the road. The roof extends down at the rear over an outshut extension. The layout consists of two cells with internal gable chimneys located at the east and west ends. The original doorway is off-centre to the east, with a later second door added immediately to the left, creating a symmetrical front. The façade includes a plat band, rusticated brick block jambs, segmental arches over the openings, and quoins at the corners. The windows are three-light casements, with a narrower central window on the first floor.
